2007 Clean Water Celebration
April 23, 2007    8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Clean Water Celebration is an annual event honoring Illinois' rivers and water. Students, teachers, and resource personnel from Illinois and neighboring states have come together since 1990 to attend work shops, make presentations on local rivers and water projects, network with other river stewards, learn about current water issues, and share common interests. One can see traveling shows and exhibits, school booths, demonstrations, hands-on science activities, theatre, art, and music. The goal of this event is to impress upon the students the importance of thinking globally and acting locally. By increasing knowledge in the community and schools about the importance of water conservation and preservation, the Clean Water Celebration establishes the human right to clean water and a healthy environment.

Join over 3000 students, teachers, exhibitors and presenters as we take a look back at history of life along the Illinois River and how it has changed - from the early trappers and explorers to the flourishing fishing and button industries - from recreational boating to barges.
